BBC AmericaIf there's one thing the Clone Club learned in the season four finale of Orphan Black, it's that Rachel Duncan (Tatiana Maslany) is ice cold.
Well, you probably knew that already, since that's kind of her thing. After all, we first met this particular clone when she was working for the other side. But after last week's bad-ass moment when she took down this season's villain, Evie Cho (Jessalyn Wanlim), right in the middle of a press conference, it was hard not to root for her.
Too bad, then, that we realized in the finale that Rachel's only looking out for herself and her own power, as she sabotaged pretty much everything her seestras have been working toward for the entire season.
Basically, she only wanted to defeat Evie Cho so she could be the HBIC and reinstate a human cloning program. And, now that Cosima (Tatiana Maslany) has cracked the code and found a cure for herself and her other ailing seestras, Rachel can get a new program up and running. But in order to do so, she had to shut Cosima out of her own research, then stab both her own mother, Susan Duncan (Rosemary Dunsmore), and Sarah (Tatiana Maslany).
Further proof of Rachel's ice-cold demeanor: Oh, just the fact that she washed the knife she used to stab two people, then washed it and put it back in the kitchen while sipping a glass of red. Rachel!
At the end of the episode, Rachel had a visitor on her island of science experiments: Mr. Westmoreland, a.k.a. the Victorian forefather of Neolutionism who created Rachel's replacement eye and is also somehow still alive after so many years. There's got to be some Dorian Gray situation happening with him, right? (If we want to get ahead of ourselves, we can totally dream cast this man we know nothing about who could be someone we've already met, for all we know.)
It wasn't just bad news for Clone Club, though. While Cosima attempted to escape the island with her mini-me in tow, she was reunited with her one true love. Delphine (Evelyne Brochu), as we learned in the penultimate episode, is still alive and now she and Cosima can figure out a way to implement their research so that Cosima is cured (and also so that no one knows she actually has a cure). Well, hopefully it won't be too late for Cosima.
