Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik may be on the outs right now, but that doesn't mean the young couple won't decide to reconcile in the future.

E! News has learned that while the former lovebirds are not back together right now, there's a chance they'll work things out and give their relationship another try—as long as they can get their communication game back on track.

"Gigi was the one that broke up with Zayn when they got into their last fight. It had to do with a issue about not communicating," a source tells E! News. "They are not back together but have been texting and are still connected. Gigi still wants to make it work though."

However, if it were up to Gigi's friends, the model would let this breakup ride out. "Gigi's friends think she should completely end it because Zayn has not been the best of boyfriends lately, and Gigi is extremely accommodating to him when she is the one with the crazy schedule," our insider adds.

Crazy schedule, indeed. Aside from spending some quality time with her gal-pals, including Kendall Jenner, Hadid hosted the Maybelline New York Beauty Bash at the Line Hotel in Los Angeles just days after learning of the breakup, and hung out with ex Cody Simpson's sister Alli. She then went off to the Guys Choice Awards on Saturday, where she was honored with the Our New Girlfriend Award.

E! News exclusively confirmed Malik and Hadid broke up earlier this month, and at the time, it seemed temporary. "During her birthday they were fighting," an insider told E! News, adding that they weren't doing well then, and have "broken up and got back together a few times."

Another source added, "They can likely get back together tomorrow. It's all very unclear what's going on between them now. They been having some issues lately that involved communication and getting along."

Neither of the celebs have commented on the split publicly, but Gigi did retweet Zayn's post celebrating the success of "Pillowtalk."
