In a surprise video posted Friday, he promotes his supergroup the Hollywood Vampires' upcoming concert in Bucharest, Romania and even manages to crack a small smile. The clip, posted by a local promoter, marks the actor's first official on-camera appearance since Heard filed for divorce from Depp after 15 months of marriage. It is unclear when or where it was recorded. Depp was absent from previous videos of the band that the company shared.
"We hope to see you there and have some big fun," Depp says about the concert, which marks the band's final gig in Europe. "Have fun."
The Hollywood Vampires began the European leg of a summer tour last week, days after Heard filed for divorce and just as she obtained a temporary domestic violence restraining order against Depp, sporting a bruise on her face in court. Depp has not commented in person about Heard's domestic violence claims, although his lawyer has stated, "Amber is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse."
The actor has appeared to be in good spirits throughout the band's trip across Europe, where his divorce drama has made headlines in local news outlets.
During their trip to Romania, Depp and his band mates, shocker rocker Alice Cooper and Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry, recently joined his old pal and longtime movie collaborator Tim Burton at a spooky place—Bran Castle, widely believed to be the Transylvanian lair of Bram Stoker's Dracula. Pics of the outing were posted on the band's Instagram page Saturday.
Depp has also hung out with friends and fans at the same Bucharest restaurant twice in recent days.
Earlier this week, after a concert in Horsens, Denmark, the actor attended an after-party at a bar and hung out with friends, including makeup artist/hair stylist Tina Deleuran. He appeared to be in good spirits.
She told E! News exclusively he shared a bottle of Champagne with the group and also shared with her a cigarette he rolled. Deleuran added Depp "didn't drink that much" and made no mention of his divorce drama back home.
"At one point, his bodyguard asked him if it was time to go back to the hotel," she said. "Johnny said no, he wanted to stay and go back inside. Then he gave him a hug."
After their show in Bucharest, the Hollywood Vampires' tour will go on a short hiatus. The band's next concert is in July, back in the United States, in Atlantic City. A hearing on Heard's domestic violence case against Depp is set to take place in Los Angeles in two weeks. Depp is not required to attend in person.
