Gillian Anderson just lined up her next TV gig—and no, it's not more episodes of The X-Files.

The actress is re-teaming with her Hannibal boss Bryan Fuller for the new Starz series American Gods, the network announced on Friday. Anderson will star in the adaptation of Neil Gaiman's novel as Media, a character described as "the mouthpiece for the New Gods, functioning as their public face and sales representative, by taking the form of various iconic celebrities. She lives off the attention and worship that people give to screens — to their laptops, their TVs, to their iPhones in their hands while they watch their TVs. Ever the perky spokesperson, and always in control, she spins stories in whatever direction best suits her."

American Gods tells the story of a brewing war between the nation's old gods of mythological lore and an upstart pantheon of gods reflecting society's modern obsession with money, technology, celebrity, media and drugs. It centers on released convict Shadow Moon (The 100's Ricky Whittle), who accepts a job as bodyguard and traveling companion to a mysterious man known as Mr. Wednesday (Deadwood's Ian McShane), a conman with personal ties to the epic battle. The series also stars Pablo Schreiber, Yetide Badaki, Bruce Langely, Emily Browning, Cloris Leachman, Peter Stormare, Crispin Glover, and Jonathan Tucker.

Anderson was last seen reprising the iconic role of Dana Scully in Fox's revival of The X-Files, which premiered in January 2016 and was a major ratings success. Fox bosses have alluded to future episodes with Anderson and co-star David Duchovny down the road, though we've got a feeling this new addition to Anderson's busy schedule means we'll be waiting quite some time before we get any resolution to that massive apocalyptic cliffhanger.
