The rest may be written after all: A reunion movie for MTV's The Hills could be nigh, E! News has learned.
According to a source, some of the ladies who shot to fame on the MTV series—those include Lauren Conrad, Kristin Cavallari, Whitney Port, Audrina Patridge—have been approached and there are talks about doing a reunion movie. However, our source cautioned there are still many factors that need to be ironed out before there is full commitment.
Entertainment Weekly first reported a televised reunion movie was in the works. And yes, this is different than Conrad's The Hills: That Was Then, This Is Now special about the 10th anniversary of its premiere on MTV.
A rep for MTV had no comment. According to the report, the movie would pick up with the ladies attending Patridge's wedding in Australia.
In The Hills: That Was Then, This Is Now, airing Tuesday, Aug. 2 on MTV, Conrad will step in front of MTV cameras again to reveal some of the show's "best-kept secrets" and reveal what it was like living her pivotal years on screen. She'll answer fan questions and give an update on what's happening in her life. In a blog post, Conrad wrote she recently watched the pilot episode, which premiered on May 31, 2006, for the first time in a decade.
"I am so proud of the show. Without all the amazing people we were lucky enough to have working behind-the-scenes (especially the show's talented creator and executive producer, Adam Divello), it would have been just another easily-forgotten reality show," she wrote. "Instead, they made a show that documented—and at times created—my reality during those years in a unique and beautiful way."
Conrad said she's doing the August special as a way to thank the fans, noting it will be an "honest conversation." The MTV series lasted six seasons with Conrad starring in five and a half of them. Cavallari replaced her as the central figure. The two previously appeared on MTV's Laguna Beach.
The Hills: That Was Then, This Is special airs Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 10 p.m. on MTV.
