Homeland just got some major news: The Showtime drama is switching seasons, moving from the fall to January, where it will take Shameless' time slot. The seventh season of Shameless will debut in the fall instead (on Oct. 2, to be exact). Also premiering this fall will be Masters of Sex season four (Sept. 11) and The Affair season three (Nov. 20). Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until 2017 for Homeland.

That's not all for the veteran series, which should be sticking around for a lot longer. The network is reportedly on the brink of renewing the series for three—you read that right, three!—more seasons. That means the drama will get a sixth, seventh and eighth season on the premium network, per Deadline (once the deal is closed, of course).

Quinn's Homeland Fate Revealed! Plus, Get New Details on Season 6

Showrunner Gansa revealed on a panel last week that season six, which will take place in New York City, will follow the time period between Election Day and Inauguration Day—i.e. when the show typically airs (but will not play out while the same thing is happening in real life, unfortunately, thanks to the January move).

"It's an interesting time," he said. "A transition and transfer of power is happening. In that 72 days, we're hopefully going to tell an interesting story. Whether the president is male or female, it's going to be a very interesting character."

Another interesting character? Rupert Friend's Quinn, who will definitely be back full-time despite looking extremely dead at the end of the season five finale. "Rupert will be back, but not the same," Gansa revealed at the panel. "How we're dramatizing Peter Quinn is still undecided at this moment."

"I hope he enjoys eating through a tube," Friend joked to EW about his character's fate. He also said that we'll see a new side of Quinn, who will be a "changed man" in season six.
