How intense is The Flash's season two finale? You'd have to create a new emoji in order to describe it.
That's what star Grant Gustin told E! News at The CW's Upfront presentation in New York City last week, after he interview-bombed our chat with co-star Jesse L. Martin, letting us crash one of their iconic Barry-Joe hugs. (Be jealous, oh so jealous!) In last week's penultimate episode, Zoom (Teddy Sears) committed his worst act yet, killing Barry's father Henry (John Wesley Shipp) in the exact same spot Barry's mother died. Ouch.
As for the fallout of the "crushing" death" in tonight's finale, Gustin basically said that emoji with the waterfall tears isn't even enough to describe it, saying it goes "beyond that. It's just heartbreaking."
Fortunately, Barry has another dad, Joe, but Gustin lamented, "I went from three to one, like that!" As for Martin, "the last father standing," he admitted he's a little nervous after the losses of Wells (Tom Cavanagh) and Henry, telling us, "Hopefully I stick around, I got a whole lot of fathering to do!" (Prayer circle for Joe West starts right now, people!)
Carlos Valdes, who play fan-favorite Cisco, echoed his co-star's teases about the finale, telling us, "Things are about to get crazy. It's an incredibly emotional episode. Grant was on another plane when we were shooting that episode."
Barry Allen crying and making us feel feelings? Never! And when we asked Valdes about Gustin's ability to cry on-command at this point, he said, "He can do a lot of things on command, he can tap-dance on command…but unfortunately, he doesn't seem to love me on command."
He then went on to pledge his love for Gustin for over 30 seconds, pleading with his co-star to love him. And, yes it was epic and beautiful. Press play on the video above to watch it all go down.
