Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Loses One of Their Own and Sets the Stage For a Shocking Season 4

Find out which cast member won't be back when the ABC series returns for season four

This should go without saying, but the following contain major spoilers from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s season finale. If you haven't had the chance to watch yet, you might want to turn away. Proceed with caution!

After one epic game of pass the cross necklace that had us biting our fingernails down to the quick, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. finally lived up to its promise and lost one of their own in the final moments of the second season finale. It wasn't exactly who we predicted a few weeks back (Joey wasn't anywhere to be found this week and, though Yo-Yo was shot a bunch of times while protecting Mack, she managed to pull through), but we were pretty darn close.

In the end, to make sure that Daisy (Chloe Bennet) didn't fulfill her own prophecy by hijacking Hive's (Brett Dalton) nuclear warhead-equipped quinjet after finding the cross in the pocket of the jacket she was wearing, Lincoln (Luke Mitchell) sacrificed himself for the woman he loved, the team that he never quite felt a part of, and the world. 

"Saving the girl I love and the world as the same time? Feels pretty right to me," he told Daisy as she pleaded with him over the communication system. And no, we're not crying thinking about it all over again. You are.

Lincoln wasn't the only loss of the night, however. We can't forget that he died alongside Hive in that quinjet up in space, though one can never be too sure that Hive is truly dead, can they? We'll have to wait until fall to find out.

Another thing we've got to wait to find out? What the heck was going on in that six month time jump. Daisy's back on the run, sporting a very goth-lite look with some long black locks. Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Mack (Henry Simmons) are tracking her every destructive move. (The world at large doesn't seem to be too fond of Quake, according to that newspaper-littered bulletin board.) And when they do close in on her, she quakes upwards (in a very Jessica Jones-fashion) and flies away. Flies! 

We've got a feeling season four is going to be a whole new world for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. And we can't wait.
