When it comes to pregnancies on Scandal, Shonda Rhimes has it handled. Her Gladiators are so loyal, they may even share their baby news with her before they reveal it to their own parents.
Take the show's star, Kerry Washington, who is currently expecting her second baby with husband Nnamdi Asomugha, E! News exclusively confirmed. During a dual interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the actress alluded to the fact that the show's creator may have been a phone call before her very own mother.
"Who do you call first—your parents or Shonda," the late-night host asked.
"My parents don't want me to answer that," she said while shaking her head and smiling. "I will not answer that."
So....is that a yes, Kerry? While we may never know the true answer, there's one question TV fans can't stop asking—will Olivia have a bun in the oven next season or will the show just desperately hide her growing bump at every angle with various props?
"I'm not going to tell you," Rhimes declared. While she admits they've thought about incorporating the real-life pregnancy onto the small screen, the creator remained tight-lipped about whether or not it will come to fruition. No matter what, the boss is thrilled for the next newborn.
"I get really excited," Rhimes gushed. "I like babies a lot."
Though the 39-year-old star is known for being fiercely private about her personal life, one of her co-stars told E! News previously that Washington has become an even better person after becoming a mom.
"[Motherhood] has just made her more awesome than she was to begin with," Tony Goldwyn shared with E! News. "She's just so happy all the time as it does when you have a baby. It's a magical time."
While Washington hasn't elaborated publicly on her second pregnancy, her endless smiles during Thursday night's interview said it all.
