Kate Hudson may be known for her comedic timing and light-hearted rom-coms, but that's just scratching the surface of her silver screen talent.

For years, the 37-year-old Golden Globe winner has been giving subtle musical performances worthy of their own awards, and yet, her vocal prowess has often been overlooked—until now.

Over the weekend, Hudson took the mic at a charity event hosted by her famous mother, actress Goldie Hawn, for a unique rendition of Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U." While Sinead O'Connor's version remains the most famous of all the song's interpretations, the Mother's Day actress may have given the songstress some competition with her newest version.

Backed by a full band, the stunning actress belted out a bluesy version of the ballad clad in a sexy black lace one-shouldered gown. All we can say is—when is this track available for download?

However, this is not the first time the low-key singer has wowed with her surprise pipes. Here's a look back at all of Hudson's highest notes:

In 2003, a little movie called How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days debuted with Hudson alongside Hollywood hunk, Matthew McConaughey. More than a decade later, the film has become a sleepover standard.

Hudson and McConaughey's impromptu duet to "You're So Vain" not only will live in infamy, but was also one of the actress' earliest on-screen singing moments, albeit purposely off-key this time.

Next up, six years later, Hudson starred in the silver screen adaptation of the former Broadway show Nine. In the sultry film, she portrayed Stephanie, an American magazine editor swept up in the world of Italian cinema.

One of the film's standout moments was Hudson's flashy performance of "Cinema Italiano," a high-energy dance number that fulfilled every fantasy about the fashionable European country.

It also showed off Hudson's singing and dancing chops unlike anything we had ever seen from her before. According to the actress, it was a performance to remember forever.

"It was so fun, truly maybe the best experience to date on a film for sure," she told Oprah Winfrey at the time.

By 2013, she turned her musical sights to television with a recurring guest appearance as demanding dance instructor Cassandra July on Fox's successful series, Glee. In one episode, Hudson performed a medley of hits by Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez as she twisted and twirled around the room.

The performance proved once and for all—Kate is the definition of a triple threat.

Last, but certainly not least, we can't forget her raspy rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner from last year. In a musical moment of patriotism, Hudson belted out the classic lyrics on July 4 with enough sass and vocal prowess to fill up an entire Super Bowl stadium.
