Selena Gomez's personal life has always made headlines, but she's done with that.
The Revival songstress appears on the cover of Marie Claire's June issue, and she gets candid about the romance that may or may not be going on behind the scenes. She and Justin Bieber aren't together these days, but that doesn't mean she's ruled out anybody.
"I've been dating," she shares. "I've been having the best time."
Although she's been having fun living the single life, she remains skeptical about people's motives. As a result, she has trouble putting herself out there. "I don't trust anybody," she confesses, adding, "So dating can only be fun if I know I'm going to have fun."
Taking control of her career, Selena says she's determined to change the narrative. In addition to making the decisions regarding her albums and tour, Selena also tries to steer interviewers away from her personal life, which has been a struggle. "I would try to promote something that I loved, and the entire interview would be about my personal life," she admits.
"I would leave a room feeling defeated, feeling embarrassed, but I would always make sure to put that smile on my face because I wasn't going to let them get to me."
Selena has officially kicked off her Revival World Tour, and she wants her fans to know that the person they see on stage is who she really is—not just some brand. "Authenticity is my life," she shares before explaining how she keeps managers and agents in their place. "They make great choices, but I make the decisions."

She does admit, however, that it wasn't always easy. "I had to not be afraid to ask dumb questions, which means I asked a million things about every single step that I was making."
The "Hands to Myself" singer adds, "I wanted to do things that I knew were going to be me. I don't want people to look at me as someone who is just this celebrity person."
