If you ask us, gilded makeup is a surefire way to win over the fashion set.

Normally, a touch of metallic is more expected than it is unexpected, but leave it to Mrs. Lily Aldridge to shake things up.

When we first caught a glimpse of the supermodel's gilded brows on the Met Gala red carpet, we had to do a double take. In comparison to everyone else's relatively safe makeup choices, it was refreshing to see Lily take a risk with her technology-inspired makeup.

To find out exactly how celeb makeup artist Quinn Murphy (for Marc Jacobs Beauty) did it, keep reading!

Step 1: To create a smooth canvas apply a face primer to clean skin (our must-have is Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer).

Step 2: Next, even out skin tone by applying a brightening liquid concealer (we can't get enough of Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer) under the eyes and around the edge of the nose, and follow up with a lightweight layer of foundation (we like BareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation).

Step 3: For the brows, Quinn crushed a gold powder eye shadow, like Marc Jaocbs Beauty Style Eye Con No 7 Plush Eye Shadow Palette in the Starlet 204, and mixed it with brow gel (a good bargain option is L'Oréal Brow Stylist Plumper) to create a futuristic-yet-regal brow line.

Step 4: To echo the metallic nature of her arches, the pro dusted the same gold eye shadow around the eyes for a halo of color. Quinn wanted to avoid harsh lines to create a luminescent and transparent-looking sheen.

Step 5: To finish the eyes, top off with a volumizing and lengthening mascara (you can't go wrong with Charlotte Tilbury 'Full Fat Lashes' 5 Star Mascara, applied to just to the upper lash line.

Step 6: Finish the face with a bronzer (a solid option is Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer), and a cream highlighter (we love Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector) on the cheekbones, bridge of nose, cupid's bow and tip of the chin.

Step 7: Punctuate the entire look with a chocolate lipstick, like Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Lip Crème Lipstick in Mahogany 232. To pull the look together, Quinn mixed Lily's color with lip balm and the same gold eye shadow used on the eyes.
