As the modern-day Marilyn Monroe, Kate Upton is the epitome of old Hollywood glamour—and her Met Gala 2016 look is the perfect proof.

It doesn't take much to make the former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit covergirl look ready for the cameras and her makeup artist will be the first person to tell you.

"Tonight is all about Kate being super glamorous," she told E! News exclusively. "Look at this face! This face needs nothing."

To pair nicely with her "showstopper" dress—a long-sleeved metallic asymmetrical gown by Topshop— she opted for a clean beauty look, complete with flawless skin, full brows, a nude lip color and simple eye makeup with just a bit of edgy eyeliner and full lashes for dimension.

To achieve the model's classic yet modern waves, you might have to consider a haircut first. The team decided to chop off a few inches from Upton's blond locks right in the middle of styling.

"Every time I was trying on the dress, it has this really cool one shoulder moment and I liked my hair stopping at this certain point on the dress," Upton explained. Alas, goodbye to the hair.

"Peter suggested that we just cut it and we did. We just chopped it off," she said. "It grows back."

In regard to her curve-hugging gown, the 23-year-old played a part in bringing it to fruition.

"I did really enjoy designing it. I think it's a fun event to design for," she explained, noting Wonder Woman as the inspiration for the look. "You can really do anything, so it's fun to have that freedom."

While this year's theme is tech-centric, Upton is curious to see how the more outlandish designs will photograph, particularly if they involve LED lights.

"It's like Christmas in May," she joked.

Instead of out-of-this-world elements, Upton's Wonder Woman-inspired dress is a subtle nod to how technology influences our lives.

"Her accessories are powerful and in this world, technology is our accessory," she explained.

While the annual event is often unpredictable, Upton is no amateur to the Met Gala. In fact, she's attended three times before.

"My first year at the Met was the most exciting," she remembered. "I went with Michael Kors and Anna Wintour helped me pick out my wardrobe, which was so amazing."

We'd venture to say Winter will approve of this look as well—especially with that stunning engagement sparkler on her left hand. Congratulations Kate!
