Just leave it to Taylor Swift to put on a show without even having to sing a single word.

The pop star stepped on to the red carpet for the 2016 Met Gala this evening in New York City, and instantly turned heads with her surprising look. While many fans are used to seeing T.Swift in toned down attire and a red lip, we were shocked to see something completely different tonight.

Instead, Swift opted to bring some metallic magic to the event, wearing a cut-out silver Louis Vuitton dress with black lace-up heels and Eva Fehren rings and earcuff. The staple to her attire, however, is her vampy dark lips, which add a nice contrast to her already-illuminating platinum locks.

Her outfit definitely fits with this year's theme, which is "Manux X Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology," highlighting the contrast between handmade haute couture and machine-made fashion.

Although Swift is solo in the photo, she does have a date for the night. Selena Gomez revealed that the pair would be attending the high-fashion event tonight together over the weekend.

"We are going together!" she told Access Hollywood. "It's so fun. It's going to be the best. It like, kind of Prom for fashion."

These two besties of more than eight years are no strangers to being each others' plus-ones for A-list soirees, and have often attended celebrity events together.

Tonight is especially important for Swift, who is co-chairing the annual Costume Institute exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The other co-chairs are actor Idris Elba, Apple's Chief Design Officer Jonathan Ive and Vogue magazine Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour.

"I love going because everybody just shows up and feels great and has fun," Gomez said.
