Marc Anthony just revealed that you can be a Grammy winner, own several successful businesses, sell more than 12 million albums worldwide, have a beautiful family and still have regrets.
In a new interview, Marc admitted that if he had to do it all over again, he would do a few things differently with regard to his family life.
"The one regret would be that what I chose to do took so much of my time. What I would have done to have been a stay at home dad, and, you know, witnessed every second of everything," Anthony told CBS News' Tracy Smith. "I would have loved that. Didn't work out that way.
"So it's the one thing that just tugs at me going and—that's the biggest sacrifice. And you sort of—you sorta—start to wonder was it all worth it. Was it worth it? You know, on that level."
Anthony is the father of five children, including twins with Jennifer Lopez.
More recently, though, Anthony does seem to be taking that time to be more of a hands-on dad and spend quality time with his children.
He and Lopez announced their separation in 2011, but they remain friendly and come together to celebrate milestones in their twins' lives, most recently being Max and Emme's 7th birthday.
In the interview, which airs May 1 on CBS Sunday Morning, the Vivir Mi Vida singer recounts his childhood, growing up one of eight kids in New York City's Spanish Harlem and how he dreamed about getting out of the neighborhood.
"To my mom, I was a pain in the ass. To my dad, I was the light of his eyes. And to me, I was awkward. I weighed two pounds," Anthony told Smith.
Anthony also recalled his father's support, and his teasing, which inspired the international Latin superstar to become the Marc Anthony we all know today.
"My dad told me early on, he said, 'Son, we're both ugly,'" the 47-year-old singer has said. "I swear to God, he says it to this day. And he goes, 'You work on your personality. It builds character.'"
Well, consider Anthony's awkward stage behind him.
Though he may question whether all the time spent away from his family was worth it, Anthony definitely made his way out of the old neighborhood, building an empire that includes a piece of the Miami Dolphins and a clothing line at Kohl's.
Marc has worked with some of the biggest talents in the Latin music world, and has recently expanded his expertise to launch his own company, Magnus Media, to empower both established and up-and-coming Latino artists
"Magnus is a company that is long overdue," said Anthony in a statement. "It's simple, really. Latino artists are among some of the world's biggest brands. Unfortunately though, many of my colleagues, and new artists coming up, too, haven't had the support to turn that influence into long-term businesses that build value. We're going to change the game, and have a lot of fun doing it."
