Be still, our Will Gardner loving hearts: According to a new report, we'll see our favorite dearly departed lawyer once more before the upcoming series finale of The Good Wife.

Although CBS did not confirm the news, TVLine reports that Josh Charles has filmed a top-secret scene for the May 8 episode, a never-before-seen flashback sequence with Julianna Margulies' Alicia Florrick.

Alicia's former love, Will Gardner, was killed off in the shocking season five episode "Dramatics, Your Honor," though he's been seen and heard from (in flashback form) since then. Charles has also directed multiple episodes of the series, including one since his character's death.

"I would love to return," he told E! News last summer of the potential to direct another episode. He was supposed to direct a season six episode but couldn't make it work with the production schedule on his Netflix series Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, but still feels close to the show he called home for five seasons. "That's my family over there."

Since leaving The Good Wife, Charles starred in the aforementioned Netflix series and recurred on Showtime's Masters of Sex. He's also popped up in a few sketches on Inside Amy Schumer.

Charles' exit from the series was kept under wraps so well that fans were shocked when Will Gardner was tragically gunned down in the courtroom by his client (sorry, Hunter Parrish, but we're never looking at you the same way again).

"It is kind of amazing, we've been able to keep it a secret for an entire year," Charles said on The Late Show shortly after Will's death aired. "I told some family members who I know could keep a secret, which is very few."

The Good Wife airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on CBS.
