The two landed in the country Sunday and are also set to travel to the remote Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan during their royal trip. They have not brought their children, Prince George, 2, and Princess Charlotte, 11 months.
The Duchess of Cambridge wore a 3/4-sleeve, red and brown patterned Alexander Mcqueen peplum top and matching knee-length skirt as she and William arrived in the Indian city of Mumbai. She paired the look with nude pointed pumps and a matching clutch.
The two received a red carpet welcome at the entrance to the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, where they will be staying. At the hotel, they placed a large wreath of white flowers on a memorial site honoring the 31 victims of a terrorist attacks that took place there in 2008, one of four.
Kate and William chatted with staff who helped to protect guests during the attacks, Kensington Palace said.
