You may have noticed that Outlander looks a little bit different this season, costume-wise.

Gone are the darker colors and rougher textures of the Scottish highlands, because now, it's all about detail. For the first half of season two, the cast will be decked out in the finest fashions that the 18th century French court had to offer—except none of the clothes are actually coming from 1700s France.

Costume designer Terry Dresbach and her team designed and constructed all of the costumes you'll see on screen, from the coats to the corsets to the intricate bits of embroidery.

It was a lot of work, and that fact was not lost on stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan. E! News' Kristin Dos Santos sat down with the stars earlier this year to talk about this season's decadent new look.

"When I came back for season two and I just saw these luscious fabrics and colors and the embroidery and the silks, I mean she's just outdone herself," Balfe says in the video above. "It's really incredible what she did."

While Caitriona was thrilled to wear the gorgeous custom-made gowns, they lost their appeal once she realized what she couldn't do in them.

"It's a two-fold," she says of the costumes. "I think Claire was really excited to finally be able to explore her femininity, but then once you kind of enjoyed it in the beginning, there's that restriction. It puts her in a different place as a woman that she didn't really expect. You kind of go through the same thing in a way, because it's fun to be in these pretty, beautiful gowns and then you realize that you're not allowed to eat in them or drink in them, and you're like, wah, all the boys are hanging out and having fun and I have to stay over here."

We got all the details on all the gowns, jackets, kilts, accessories, and one particular bright red dress from Dresbach, which you can find in our gallery featuring everything you need to know about Outlander's luscious new look.

Outlander returns Saturday at 9 p.m. on Starz.
