Girl Meets World Stages Epic TGIF Reunion With Family Matters Favorite

Find out what Ben Savage had to say about the big day on set

Get ready for a TGIF reunion on Girl Meets World. Family Matters star Reginald VelJohnson, Carl Winslow himself, will guest star on the Disney Channel series.

"We were thrilled he joined us on-set this week," Ben Savage told E! News in an exclusive statement. "Having him here, felt like stepping back into my childhood. He's a terrific actor and such a nice guy."

VelJohnson played the father of the Winslow clan for nine seasons, eight on ABC and one on CBS. Family Matters and Boy Meets World, which starred Savage and is the predecessor of Girl Meets World, were in the TGIF block together for five seasons.

In addition to Family Matters and soon Girl Meets World, VelJohnson's other TV credits include It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Hart of Dixie, Mike & Molly and Chuck. On the big screen he's had roles in Die Hard, You Again, Turner & Hooch and Crocodile Dundee.

Take a look at the epic TGIF reunion photos above. And please note, VelJohnson is not playing Carl Winslow, but he is playing another police officer. Remember, Family Matters was set in Chicago (and he'd totally be higher ranking by now) and Girl Meets World is set in New York City.
