If you've seen Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice already, you may have found yourself scraping your head at the conclusion of the film (and if you haven't seen it just yet, here's your spoiler alert).

As the film wraps up, Jesse Eisneberg's Lex Luthor alludes to Darkseid's ominous arrival. However, the audience is left wondering how or why Luther would even know who Darkseid is.

Well, in a deleted scene just released by Warner Bros., it appears we get our answer.

The scene, called "Communion," shows soldiers descending upon General Zod's ship and finding a massive monster holding three cubes, which appear to be Mother Boxes—a technology from Darkseid's Apokolips and the same device used to turn Ray Fisher's Victor Stone into Cyborg.

Thus, after watching the clip, lots of fans are speculating that this monster represents either Darkseid himself, one of the New Gods or Steppenwolf—Darkseid's evil uncle and mentor—in the forthcoming Justice League Part 1, which starts production next month.

More questions may be answered when the full 30-minute extended version of the DVD and Blu-Ray is released this summer.

Meanwhile, Batman v Superman opened in theaters last week to some dismal reviews. The overall consensus is that director Zack Snyder crammed too much into the 152-minute flick, leaving lots of questions unanswered with characters and plot lines getting lost in the jam-packed action.

However, despite the reviews, the film has still been seeing quite a bit of success. In fact, Forbes reports that in it's first week, the film grossed $219.91 million across the world.
