The lines between friends and foes get blurred in Captain America: Civil War, including between Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow and Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye.

In the movie, her character is allied with Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man / Tony Stark, who supports the idea of government regulation over the Avengers amid a new enemy threat, while Renner's character teams up with Chris Evans' Captain America / Steve Rogers, who opposes it.

A new International trailer for Captain America: Civil War, which contains Japanese subtitles, shows Black Widow and Hawkeye sparring.

"We're still friends, right?" she asks him.

"Depends on how hard you hit me," he replies.

Captain America: Civil War is the third movie in the hit Marvel franchise and also stars other returning characters, including Sebastian Stan, who reprises his role as Winter Soldier and Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch. Both are allied with Rogers. Don Cheadle returns as Stark's pal War Machine.

The film also introduces Black Panther, played by Chadwick Boseman, and features Ant-Man, a role Paul Rudd originated in a standalone 2015 movie, as well as Spider-Man, which will be played by Tom Holland for the first time. He is set to reprise his role in a new Spider-Man movie set for release next year.

Last year, Johansson told Collider Captain America: Civil War "is definitely sort of like a pre-Avengers 3 and 4," whereas the previous film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, "didn't feel like necessarily it was part of The Avengers" and "didn't feel like it was leading you into" The Avengers: Age of Ultron."

"Where we left off in Ultron is definitely picked up in Cap 3 here, pretty smoothly I think," Renner told Screen Rant earlier this month.

Captain America: Civil War will hit theaters on May 6.
