It can be really difficult for first-time parents to step away from their career for a little while to tend to their newborn, but Tyra Banks is seeing a cool, new side to the business world because of it.

The supermodel chatted with E! News' Catt Sadler on Sunday before the Simply Stylist conference in Los Angeles, and she dished about how becoming a mom has actually helped her business grow.

"Well, I'm on maternity leave right now, just taking a break," she explained, revealing that it was a little weird stepping away from her baby boy to hit the carpet.

"I really now am empowering my team. I'm understanding delegation, understanding that I don't have to do everything to make something successful," she continued. "I'm on maternity leave and Tyra Beauty is kickin' butt!"

In fact, Tyra explained that her team has recently exceeded many of their goals, which she believes is due to everyone's ability to get involved.

"It just got to show, empower and empower others and you can grow," she began laughing. "Oh my God, we're rappin' now!"

As for taking care of a newborn, Tyra admits things get a little difficult with the lack of sleep.

"Some mornings you wake up, and you're like, 'Where am I? I don't know what's going on. And I know it's not a good idea for me to drive right now because I did not sleep,'" she said. "So I balance that and his dad helps, and we go back and forth so that's good."

Speaking of baby daddy and boyfriend Erik Asla, when it comes to diaper duty, Tyra explained, "Erik does about 40 percent diaper duty at night. So we're almost fifty-fifty."

Tyra and Erik welcomed their little bundle of baby boy joy into the world in late January with help from a surrogate.

"The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here," the model shared on Instagram with a photo of baby clothes. "He's got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik's mouth and chin. As we thank the angel of a woman that carried our miracle baby boy for us, we pray for everyone who struggles to reach this joyous milestone. York Banks Asla, welcome to the world."

Erik added, "Witnessing the dawn of life is possibly life's greatest gift."

We're so happy to hear the new family is doing well!
