"Casey Affleck and Summer Phoenix have amicably separated," Affleck's rep confirmed to E! News. "They remain very close friends."
The 40-year-old actor proposed to Joaquin Phoenix's younger sister on Christmas Day in 2003. They were previously introduced by Joaquin after he starred in To Die For with Affleck in 1995.
The following year, the engaged couple welcomed their first child together, son Indiana August. The Triple 9 star ultimately wed Phoenix in 2006 and the actress gave birth to their second child, son Atticus, in 2008.
Both vegans, the film stars shared a love for animal rights and are avid supporters of various environmental charities, including PETA.
The news falls on the heels of brother Ben Affleck's split from his estranged wife, Jennifer Garner. Coincidentally, the pair had also just celebrated their tenth anniversary before announcing their divorce in June 2015.
