InstagramAn Alaskan judge has ruled in the custody battle between Bristol Palin and Dakota Meyer.
Palin's ex filed a motion at the end of February requesting joint legal custody, and Alaska Judge Herman G. Walker Jr. has granted it. Walker ruled that the former couple would share interim joint legal and physical custody of their daughter Sailor Grace, E! News has learned.
Palin previously requested Meyer only receive "reasonable" visitations and no overnight stays, but the judge said it would be in the baby's best interest to have equal access to both parents.
"The mother objects to overnight visitation because the child is currently breastfeeding nightly," explained the judge, per the Daily Mail. "However the court finds it in the best interests of the child that overnight visitation [with the father] occur. Mother is to provide father with an adequate supply of milk or formula for overnight visitation."
Meyer will make the trip to Alaska from Kentucky twice a month and stay for four days each visit. His visits are set to start this month, but sleepovers won't commence until May.
Sailor was born in December, seven months after Palin and Meyer called off their engagement.
Palin also settled another custody battle she was embroiled in with ex Levi Johnston, who is the father of their son, Tripp Johnston. "I'm happy now to be successfully co-parenting," Johnston wrote on Facebook, signifying he had finally received joint custody.
He also offered words of advice to other dads who were struggling in custody battles. "I want to say that even though fathers in this country don't usually have the upper hand in court, I encourage every father to never give up on fighting to keep their kids in their life," he added. "It's always worth it."
