Jimmy Kimmel to Host the 2016 Emmys

68th Annual Emmy Awards will air Sept. 18 on ABC

Jimmy Kimmel has been tapped to host the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.

This will be the second time Kimmel has hosted the Emmy ceremony, after first emceeing for ABC in 2012; The awards show rotates through the Big Four networks—ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC—every year. Kimmel follows Andy Samberg, who hosted for Fox in 2015, Seth Meyers, who hosted for NBC in 2014, and Neil Patrick Harris, who hosted for CBS in 2013.

"I am excited to be hosting the Emmys again," Kimmel said Monday in a press release. "I have a feeling I'm going to be great." Channing Dungey, president of ABC Entertainment, called Kimmel "the consummate showman, adding, "With Kimmel at the helm, expect to be at the edge of your seat for a bigger, bolder and better-than-ever Emmy event."

Kimmel has hosted numerous awards shows and industry gatherings throughout the years, including the ESPY Awards, the American Music Awards and the White House Correspondents' Dinner. ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! has previously earned five Emmy nominations in three categories: Outstanding Variety Series Talk category, Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series, and Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series.

Good Morning America announced Kimmel's hosting news simultaneously on-air and via Twitter. The late-night comedian tweeted about it shortly after, writing, "I am hosting the #Emmys on Sunday Sept 18. Until then, have a great summer."

The Emmys will take place at the Microsoft Theater in L.A., and the telecast will air on ABC.

Nominations for the 2016 Emmys will be announced live July 14.
