Not to bring up the beach wave in the middle of winter, but we have to talk about Margot Robbie's loosely bent style (expertly imagined by celeb hairstylist Renato Campora) at last night's Oscars.

Let's discuss: The look is not quite a full-on spiral but not predictably straight strands either. Upon first glance you might think this semi-rustled style is better suited for a less-eventful occasion (say a day at the beach) but there's something undeniably sophisticated that just feels classy in a fashion-girl-kind-of-way.

So what makes Margot's bent strands the breakout hairstyle of this year's Oscars? It's all about the bend, baby.

Nine Zero One Salon celeb hairstylist Marissa Marino, who recreated the look for us on our E! News GlamSnaps, affectionately termed the alluring style "the big bend." For your own take that strays from obnoxiously tight ringlets (but doesn't venture into aggressively straight territory, either), here's exactly how to bend it like Margot.

Step 1: Start with clean, smooth hair and spritz all-over with a volumizing spray, like Aquage Sea Salt Texturizing Spray, or a volumizer, like Matrix Total Results High Amplify Foam Volumizer, to create a lift. Next, divide hair in horizontal sections.

Step 2: Using a 1 1/4-inch curling iron, starting a few inches from the roots, wrap hair under the wand once and hold for 10 seconds.

Step 3: Depending on the length of your hair, move the wand down a few inches and wrap hair over the wand, wrapping once, and hold for 10 seconds. Repeat the under-over pattern until you reach the end of each section.

Step 4: Repeat the under-over pattern on all sections of hair.

Step 5: Once bent hair is cooled, brush through strands to blend the bends for a lived-in texture. Lastly, smooth the ends of strands with a hair oil, like dp Hue Aragan Oil, to give your look a red carpet sheen.
