When in doubt, look to Oprah. So says Jared Leto, who revealed on the 2016 Oscars red carpet that he almost totally lost it during the 2014 Academy Awards when he won for his role in Dallas Buyers Club.

"I remember my mom, my bother and just that feeling of gratitude. I just remember it as an incredible thing," he told Ryan Seacrest about the surreal moment on E!'s Live from the Red Carpet. "I think you're happy when your brain works and you're able to say anything at all."

Leto went on to say that when he finally got onstage, he realized he was staring at all these iconic actors that he had looked up to his entire life, and that's when he got really nervous.

"I remember when I won and I started my speech and I remember I was staring at Robert DeNiro," he said. "And I was like, ‘maybe I should move on to Oprah.'"

So while some people would be more nervous staring at Oprah, it looks like she's the one person in the room who calmed him down enough so he could get through his acceptance speech.

And speaking of winning statues, Leto is gunning hard for Leonardo DiCaprio tonight to finally get his long overdue Oscar.

"I always love Leo's choices because I think he makes films and doesn't compromise. He always seems like he's making films that he read and really enjoyed," he said. "He's not thinking about ‘oh, is this going to be a giant hit?' He's thinking about ‘what is this experience going to be like and what can I do with this?' So I think Leo really has great taste."

Here's hoping Oprah is in the audience tonight to be a soothing face if Leo finally gets his Academy Award.
