Mindy Kaling has a special comfort item from home she takes with her to work.
The 36-year-old creator, writer and star of The Mindy Project revealed to E!'s Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet at the 2016 Oscars Sunday she brings to the sets of her various projects a pillow bearing the words, "Ask Dad."
"It just means that, you know, you have to make so many decisions when you're a show runner," she said. "Sometimes when it's a hard, emotional, decision, I just look at the pillow—'Oh, I'll call my dad.'"
Kaling voices a character, Disgust, in Pixar's animated movie Inside Out, which is nominated for Best Original Screenplay and Best Animated Feature Film.
The actress walked the red carpet in a black and sapphire off-the-shoulder Elizabeth Kennedy gown with short, dropped sleeves, paired with Effy jewelry and a Prada clutch. She wore he hair in a classic bun.
"It took me like 15 minutes to get ready," Kaling joked. "You know, I'm just a really easy...I'm very low-maintenance. No, I've been doing this for like 72 hours."
