Amidst all the celebration, the Academy Awards took a moment to reflect.

During the In Memoriam television segment at the 2016 Oscars, Dave Grohl delivered a touching, acoustic performance of The Beatles' "Blackbird" while the Academy honored and remembered its members who passed away in the last year with a video tribute.

Honorees included David Bowie, The Lord of the Rings actor Christopher Lee, Maureen O'Hara, Harry Potter actor Alan Rickman, Titanic composer James Horner, Pixar screenwriter Daniel Gerson and Star Trek's Leonard Nimoy.
