Jimmy Kimmel Live!'s "Mean Tweets" segment has only gotten meaner.
Ahead of the Oscars 2016, Jimmy Kimmel asked Hollywood's biggest stars to read nasty things people have tweeted about them in a "Movie Edition" of the recurring bit on Thursday's show. Participants included Christoph Waltz, Patricia Arquette, George Clooney, Jessica Chastain, Eddie Redmayne, Susan Sarandon, Kevin Costner, Emily Blunt, Zach Galifianakis, Kevin Hart, Richard Dreyfuss, Cate Blanchett, Seth Rogen, Oscar Isaac, Taraji P. Henson and Sean Penn.
Many of celebrities read mean tweets about their appearance. Arquette read from @revious, who wrote, "I'm getting f--ked up tonight. I mean Patricia Arquette's teeth f--ked up." Blanchett turned sour after reading that @yosukecchi thinks she's a "f--king play-doh looking face uggo." Penn didn't even crack a hint of a smile, either, after reading this tweet from @Jenny_IDLYITW: "Sean Penn: 1) has a penis nose, 2) has a scrotum face, 3) has an anus mouth, 4) is a butthole."
Some stars laughed at the tweets, though. @Reemawi wrote, "Eddie Redmayne looks like someone tried to erase his nose, but couldn't completely. I also think he looks perpetually dehydrated," to which he replied, "I am! I'm really thirsty." Galifiankis also got a kick out of @ZAKtheFED's tweet: "I hate when zach galifiankis plays serious roles, that's what Dakota fanning is for." And Chastain didn't mind reading that she "looks like Julia Roberts' ghost." Similarly, Rogen cackled after he was compared to another celebrity by @camille, who wrote, "Convinced that Seth Rogen is really just Dustin Diamond with 150 extra pounds on him."
Meanwhile, other stars became stone-faced after reading the mean tweets. Clooney, for example, didn't laugh when @Tann_Matt tweeted, "If that gross ratty old man George Clooney can find a girl... you regular fellas out there in the twitterverse must be drowning in p---y." Blunt was also taken aback when @pooplosophy tweeted she's "got a purdy mouth ... that I'd like to poop in."
A few participants decided to fight back. After @pattywhacker wrote, "Tired of susan sarandon having her big fat saggy boobs in my face," she laughed and replied, "Oh, you wish." And when @aMUSIC_nerd said Henson "seems like she's extremely ghetto in real life lol," the Empire actress offered to settle their differences. "Well, I can be bitch!" she said. "Meet me outside!"
