Watch: "Girls" Stars Go to "Summer Camp" for New Season

Viewers are always in for a treat when the women of Girls leave the skyscrapers and apartments of New York City behind and head to places where the gray pavement has been replaced by lush lawns, and that's exactly how season five of the HBO series kicks off.

Hannah (Lena Dunham), Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet), Jessa (Jemima Kirke) and the boys head upstate for Marnie's (Allison Williams) wedding—bringing the whole cast together, which doesn't happen all that often on the show.

"We had such a good time just all hanging out together," Jenni Konner, executive producer on Girls, told E! News. "There's a certain magic when all those girls are in the same room that's really special and really fun. They're all, I think in some way, in some great way, trying to impress each other. It's some of their greatest performances and they just adore each other, which is unusual, and it's great."

Mamet and Kirke described it as summer camp. And the bonding went one step further when Kirke's mom invited them to stay with her.

"Jem, Allison and I all stayed there when we were shooting and cooked dinner a bunch of nights," Mamet revealed. "It was so beautiful and sort of like a strange meta experience because we all knew we'd be at Allison's real wedding in like six months, so it was sort of like a trial run. It was a great time and the first time all of us had been together since the previous season, so it was like we all got to go to summer camp."
