Bold choices are the new black

In the market for a new jacket? Chances are you're planning on playing it safe with the usual neutral (because it goes with everything), but, apparently, bold choices are the new black.

Kylie Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Jada Pinkett Smith, Adriana Lima and Olivia Culpo were all recently spotted wearing various jackets in a daring shade of red. You see the color on lots of accessories, shoes and awards show gowns, but because of its tricky nature, it's not so simple to work into your everyday wardrobe.

After this you'll be seeing the shade in a whole other light. What else can you learn from this style lesson? Look to the stars for inspiration and they'll always point you in the correct vibrantly-hued direction.

Like the reality star and beauty maven, look to a red leather trench coat to keep you warm. Keep yours open to give off the feel that it's an addition to your outfit as opposed to something you'd just throw over top. When you're deciding what to wear underneath, keep in mind that black, white and denim look amazing with the hue. If you're going for a more nautical feel, navy blue can also be quite chic.

If you're looking for something with sexy undertones, a borrowed-from-your-boyfriend's-closet look will do the trick. An oversized red blazer can really go anywhere: Unbutton it and throw a shirt underneath for a relaxed look at the office then, when it's time to let your hair down, go Olivia Culpo-style and leave the shirt behind.

When sticking to a monochromatic palette like Gigi Hadid, the key is to mix it up with textures. No matter your personal style, pulling off this look is easy—just opt for something with cool detailing for an added bonus!

It doesn't really matter what you wear underneath a wool coat like this because it IS the outfit. It makes a statement on its own as opposed to the wide-open looks we saw on Kylie and Gigi. Meaning: Choose your footwear wisely because they're the only thing left out in the open.

Looking for a more elevated look? A darker shade of red vs. the classic primary color makes for a more dramatic statement. Throw a luxurious fabric into the mix like Adriana and you've nailed down a nighttime-appropriate staple.
