Although Gigi Hadid may have been on the other side of the country when Taylor Swift won Album of the Year at the 2016 Grammy Awards, she was still celebrating her BFF and just as proud as ever.

The supermodel chatted with E! News at a launch event for Sports Illustrated's 2016 swimsuit edition, praising the Grammy winner for her hard work and even giving her two thumbs-up for her brave speech (which was probably definitely aimed at Kanye West).

While describing the moment she heard about Swift's big win, Gigi says, "I was at an event with Karlie [Kloss], who is also one of Taylor's best friends, when we found out. So we sent her a little video of us and said, 'Celebrating for you! We wish we could be there!'"

She continued, "But we weren't surprised that she won. She's so talented, so hard working and so great to her fans. I think that she really, really deserved it, and we're so proud."

As for her must-talked about acceptance speech that seemed to clearly take aim at Kanye, Gigi admits she still has yet to watch it, though she did get a text from her mom who gave it major props!

"My mom texted me right away and said, 'Taylor killed her speech!'" she explained. "And obviously I heard it was amazing, so I'm really excited to take a look. She's amazing, so I'm not surprised she won."

The SI model—who is also best friends with Kendall Jenner—has already addressed people who questioned her loyalty after she was spotted at Yeezy Season 3 last week. She took to Twitter to clarify:

Meanwhile, Gigi also chatted with us a bit about the excitement over the new Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, and what makes it so great.

"For Sports Illustrated, what's great is they love you the way you are. They pick you for who you are. They don't ask you to change," Gigi revealed. "My first three months in New York is when I first met MJ [Day, SI editor], and I had just gotten out of high school as a really competitive volleyball player, and she loved my body like that."

She added, :Since then, I don't have as much muscle mass because I haven't been playing volleyball every day. But she still just loves women as they grow and even when their body changes in that sense. She always supports all the girls, and I think that's why we love doing it and the pictures turn out so well because she makes us feel beautiful."

The real question is: Did Zayn Malik approve? Check out Gigi's answer in the video above!
