Kendrick Lamar Wins Best Rap Album for To Pimp a Butterfly at the Grammy Awards 2016 & Is Already Sweeping the Night!

Kendrick Lamar took home the first award of the night, "Best Rap Album" at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards on Monday for his hit album, To Pimp a Butterfly.

The 28-year-old beat out J. Cole's 2014 Forest Hills Drive, Nicki Minaj's The Pinkprint, Dr. Dre's Compton and Drake's If You're Reading This It's Too Late to win the Grammy Award.

After his win, Kendrick received a shoutout from President Obama on Twitter! The White House account tweeted, "Shoutout to @KendrickLamar and all the artists at the #Grammys working to build a brighter future. #MyBrothersKeeper."

Kendrick, who received a standing ovation from the audience, started off his acceptance speech by saying, "First off all glory to God, that's for sure."

Kendrick also thanked his wife Whitney for her support and for "being the best person."

The Grammys 2016 just started but Kendrick is already sweeping the awards, he's scooped up awards for "Best Rap Song" and "Best Rap Performance" for his song "Alright." He's also won "Best Rap/Sung Collaboration" for "These Walls" along with Bilal, Anna Wise & Thundercat and his "Bad Blood" collaboration with Taylor Swift won the award for "Best Music Video."

Before Monday's ceremony, Kendrick already had two Grammy awards from last year's show. Kendrick took home the awards for "Best Rap Song" and "Best Rap Perofrmance" at the Grammys 2015.
