Thunderbirds are go on Amazon. Actually, that should be Thunderbirds Are Go because that's the new title of Amazon's reinvention of the classic series. Yes, another reboot/revival is upon us.

Amazon has ordered four 13-episode seasons of the new kids series, which is being described as a "reinvention of the 50-year-old classic Thunderbirds." The new series follows the Tracy brothers, the world's most family of heroes. Rosamund Pike of Gone Girl fame will play Lady Penelope.

Unlike the original series, the new Thunderbirds will be a mix of CGI animation and live-action model sets. The new series is produced by ITV Studios, Pukeko Pictures and Weta Workshop.

"We're thrilled to be collaborating with ITV Studios Global Entertainment on a world-renowned property that kids and families today will embrace," Tara Sorensen, head of kids programming at Amazon Studios, said in a statement. "Our customers will enjoy the same action and adventure found on the classic series infused with a contemporary aesthetic and visually stunning world."

The first season is set to premiere later this year. The Original series premiered in 1965. Films followed in the 1960s and again in 2004. Thunderbirds 2086 premiered in the 1980s and re-edited versions of the original series aired in the US in the 1990s.

Thunderbirds Are Go is just the latest in TV's revival and reboot madness. The X-Files is currently airing on Fox, Limitless is on CBS with Rush Hour to follow and Netflix's Full House sequel series premieres later in February.
