It must be fate!
As James Corden was driving down the highway and singing Coldplay's "A Sky Full of Stars" Tuesday, the Late Late Show host happened upon Chris Martin, who was trying to hitch a ride to the Super Bowl. The singer begged Corden for a ride, saying, "Please, man. I'm desperate."
After Corden came to terms with the fact that he would no longer be alone on his day off he and Martin set off for San Francisco, Calif. They turned on the radio, and wouldn't you know it, Coldplay's "Adventure of a Lifetime" happened to be playing. "You know what's odd about the Super Bowl, is that we—where we're from—we call it American football, whereas here, it's just football," Corden told his fellow British ex-pat. "Do you know the rules of American football?"
"Yeah. You have nine teams and two balls. Wait! No! So, the pitcher, he has to tee off and then it lands wherever it might land, and then it's 15-Love," Martin said. And if the ball lands in the basket? "Then it's nine points for the other team, I think. At the end of it, they hand out bowls," he told his driver. "Some of them are really super. Hopefully they'll give us one after this thing."
"Yellow" was next on Corden's playlist.
Afterward, Martin did a killer impression of Mick Jagger.
