Kate Winslet is a winner in every sense in the word.
Though the Jobs star didn't take home the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role (The Danish Girl's Alicia Vikander did), Winslet still had a fantastic time at the star-studded ceremony. "SAG. Is it not alarming, you know? The use of that word? SAG Awards," the actress joked on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Monday. "You know, it's always struck me as being faintly amusing. I don't think we kind of laugh about that enough." Host Jimmy Kimmel joked, "It's funny because no one there has any sagging going on at all!"
"You are right about that!" Winslet said. "And it's slightly unnerving."
In all seriousness, Winslet said Saturday's event was "really a lot of fun." However, she added, "It's such a strange and wonderful time, awards season. I suddenly realized recently that we find ourselves in this incredible situation, to have entered a competition that we did not choose to enter. And then you find yourself really wanting to win. It's like, 'What's happening to me?!'"
"Do you really have that?" Kimmel asked. "You really want to win?"
"I suddenly do a little bit, actually, if I'm honest," said Winslet, who recently won a Golden Globe award. "I think it's natural, isn't it, to want to win one of those great big fabulous prizes?"
Kimmel said many winners often "lie" about not preparing an acceptance speech. "I'm done saying that! I'm done saying, 'It's great to be nominated.' Yeah, it is. It really, really is! But it's really great to win! It's like so great!" Winslet said. "I'm so shameless. It's so disgusting, isn't it?"
