Spotlight took the spotlight tonight by winning Best Movie Cast at the 2016 SAG Awards.

The A-list cast of the film, which recalls the true story of The Boston Globe investigating allegations against John Geoghan, an unfrocked priest accused of molesting more than 80 boys, received the top award of the night, beating out fellow nominees The Big Short, Beasts of No Nation, Straight Outta Compton and Trumbo.

Mark Ruffalo took the stage alongside his co-stars Rachel McAdams, John Slattery, Liev Schreiber and Michael Keatonto kick-off the acceptance speech with a nod to those who the film was based off of.

I have to first of all thank open road, thank participant, thank our producers, thank Tom McCarthy and Josh Winger, who just took every single opportunity to tell the truth," he began.

"They didn't take any cheap way. It was always the truth. It honored these people. These victims who are dead. And the survivors who are still alive of one of the most horrific things that our culture has allowed to happen. And this movie allows them to be seen in the world, in a world that has been blind to them. So it is such an honor to be standing in front of you on behalf of them."

Ruffalo handed the podium to Keaton, who continued, "This is not only for the survivors of this horrific situation, for me, personally, and I'm only speaking for me, this is for the disenfranchised everywhere. This is for every Flint, Michigan, in the world, this is for the powerless. This is for the powerful who take advantage of the powerless, and you can hang me for that, I don't really care. I'm proud to be a part of this."

The award-winning actor concluded, "There's fair and there's unfair. And I'm always gonna vote for the fair. I'm always gonna pull for the good guys."
