Happy birthday, Christian Bale!

The American Psycho star turns 42 today and, not only does he look as hot as ever (not a bad gift to wake up to), he could end up becoming a three-time Screen Actors Guild Award winner tonight!

Bale is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for his turn as a financial whiz who figures out a way to, well, short the system in The Big Short, which has only been picking up momentum as the Oscars approach. (Oh, and Bale is nominated for one of those again, too!)

The Welsh star is a previous SAG winner in the same category for The Fighter, and he shared in American Hustle's win for Best Performance by an Ensemble in a Movie back in 2014.

Though this year Sylvester Stallone, a Golden Globe winner for Creed, may stand between Bale and another Actor statue for his mantle (because that's surely where he keeps them), there's no doubt that the happily married father of two turned in yet another top-notch performance, just as he's been doing since he first burst on the scene as a child star in Empire of the Sun.

Speaking of which... What better day to celebrate Christian Bale's illustrious résumé? Take a look back at the 2016 Screen Actors Guild Award and Oscar nominee's biggest roles through the years. They're quite the characters!
