Paul Wesley, The Vampire Diaries, Joseph Morgan, The Originals

The CW

What's the first thing two supernatural frenemies do during a crossover?

Drink, of course!

That's what Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) are up to in the first footage from the upcoming Vampire Diaries/Originals crossover, courtesy of the newest promo posted by The Vampire Diaries' Twitter page. The very end of the short clip shows Klaus providing his "old friend" with a shot and welcoming him to New Orleans, which is where both parts of the crossover will be set.

The promo also touts a whole lot of biting, stabbing, and smoldering thanks to the "bad boys" of the two CW dramas. Watch the teaser below!

The crossover will find Stefan needing to escape from a magic-related problem, so he'll head to St. James' Infirmary in New Orleans, where no magical spell can find him. While he's there, he'll meet up with Klaus, who will of course need his help in the next episode of The Originals

"Basically, we've been fighting for years about whether to do a crossover, how to do a crossover, will it work, will it seem pander-y," executive producer Julie Plec told E! News of the episodes. "And none of us wanted to do it for the sake of doing it, but the timelines were starting to separate and Vampire Diaries, as you know, is going to catch up to its [three-year flash forward]," the executive producer explains. "So I thought, 'This is it, we only have one shot left.' And that thought coincided with the need for Stefan to find a safe haven to escape a mystical problem."

The Vampire Diaries and The Originals officially move to Friday nights this week as they return from winter hiatus, and we'll get to find out exactly what kind of torture Damon (Ian Somerhalder) has been experiencing while trapped in the Phoenix stone.

The Originals, meanwhile, will deal with the aftermath of Cami's (Leah Pipes) truly upsetting death at the end of the midseason finale, right after she and Klaus had finally kissed.

The Vampire Diaries airs at 8 p.m. and The Originals follows at 9 p.m., Fridays on the CW.
