UPDATE, 5:55 p.m.: E! News has confirmed Miley Cyrus' casting in Woody Allen's Amazon series—and so has Miley herself! "F--k yeah ! Stoked to be in Woody Allens first series!!!!! I had claimed 2016 to be my year of 'chillin the f--k out' but next to my bed for a few years now has been this portrait of W.A. & I was looking into his eyes when I got the call to be apart of the cast and work alongside the bad a$$ Elaine May & da dude himself! 1960zzzz here I [come]," the singer/actress posted on Instagram.

EARLIER: Well, this is certainly an unexpected bit of casting news.

Woody Allen's still-untitled Amazon series has just found main cast, with none other than Miley Cyrus is in the mix, her rep confirms with E! News. Cyrus will star alongside Elaine May and Allen himself in the six half-hour episode series, which will be set in the 1960s.

Allen and Cyrus, together on screen at last.

The series, Allen's first foray into television, will be written and directed by the prolific filmmaker. "I don't know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I'm not sure where to begin," Allen said when the series was announced a year ago. "My guess is that Roy Price will regret this."

"Woody Allen is a visionary creator who has made some of the greatest films of all-time, and it's an honor to be working with him on his first television series," Roy Price, vice president of Amazon Studios, said when the series was announced. "From Annie Hall to Blue Jasmine, Woody has been at the creative forefront of American cinema and we couldn't be more excited to premiere his first TV series exclusively on Prime Instant Video next year."

While this will mark the first time Allen and Cyrus have appeared on screen together, he and May worked together on the 2000 film Small Time Crooks. May famously wrote the screenplay for the 1996 adaptation of The Birdcage and was one half of the legendary comedy duo Nichols and May with Mike Nichols.

Deadline first reported the casting news.
