Nick Carter Breaks Silence After Bar Arrest: "I Am Human"

Nick Carter has returned to Twitter and broken his silence following his recent arrest at a Florida bar.

The 35-year-old Backstreet Boys singer was arrested on Jan. 13 on suspicion of misdemeanor battery after allegedly getting into a bar scuffle at Hog's Breath Saloon in Key West. He spent the night in jail before he was released on a $1,500 bond. Carter has pleaded not guilty, court records show.

"I am human and at times it can be a struggle to balance a healthy lifestyle," Carter tweeted Saturday morning, after staying away from Twitter since the day before his arrest. I'm not perfect and for that I am sorry."

"When we fall we have to get up and keep on walking," he added. "I hope you stay by my side and continue to walk with me."

If convicted of battery, Carter could receive a maximum sentence of one year in jail or one year of probation, plus a $1,000 fine. He is due to be arraigned on Feb. 8, court records show.

Carter's arrest took place two months after he came in second place on Dancing With the Stars and announced on the show he and wife Lauren Kitt are expecting their first child, a baby boy
