Angie Bowie Leaves Big Brother House After ''Feeling Unwell''

David Bowie's ex-wife, Angie Bowie, has decided to leave the Big Brother house.

Channel 5 released a statement saying the 66-year-old made the decision to leave the program due to an illness.

"After being unwell for a few days, Angie Bowie has decided to leave the Celebrity Big Brother House," the statement read. "Her exit will be addressed in tonight's live show on Channel 5 at 9 pm."

The news of her leaving comes shortly after the death of her ex-husband. Angie and David were married from 1970-1980.

She was informed of his passing several hours after the rest of the world as she had no contact outside of the Big Brother house. Upon being informed, she broke down on last week's episode of the show while opening up about the tragic loss. "I haven't seen him in so many years," she said. "I can't make a big drama out of it. I just feel like an era has ended with his passing. I'm so very sad."

David died on Jan. 10, just two days after his 69th birthday. His family released a statement on Facebook saying, "David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family's privacy during their time of grief."

They also announced that they will be holding a private ceremony for close relatives and friends to honor him, encouraging fans to celebrate him in their own, unique way.

The family said in a statement: "We are overwhelmed by and grateful for the love and support shown throughout the world.  However, it is important to note that while the concerts and tributes planned for the coming weeks are all welcome, none are official memorials organized or endorsed by the family. Just as each and every one of us found something unique in David's music, we welcome everyone's celebration of his life as they see fit."

Bowie is survived by two children, Duncan Jones—who spoke out about his father's death last week—and Alexandria "Lexi" Zahra Jones, as well as his wife Iman, who he married in 1992.
