Empire Renewed for Season 3—Why Don't You Have Some Celebratory Cookies?

You can't stop the music: Empire has been renewed for a third season. Fox announced the pickup at the TCA 2016 Winter Press Tour.

Season two of the Fox series is the No. 1 broadcast show amongst adults in the 18-49 demographic with a 7.3 Live+7 rating and 21.2 million viewers across platforms. The show, which has received a bevy of award nominations including Emmy nominations and a Grammy nomination, recently took home a Golden Globe when Taraji P. Henson was honored with the Best Actress in a TV Drama trophy at the 2016 ceremony.

In addition to Henson, Empire also stars Terrence Howard, Jussie Smollett, Bryshere "Yazz" Gray, Trai Byers, Grace Gealey, Katilin Doubleday, Gabourey Sidibe, Ta'Rhonda Jones and Serayah McNeill. Guest stars in season two include Chris Rock, Marisa Tomei, Rosie O'Donnell, Ludacris, Andre Royo, Vivica A. Fox, Adam Rodriguez and Naomi Campbell.

In addition to the Empire renewal, Fox also announce 24: Legacy, a new pilot in the world of 24 (but without Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer), Scream Queens season two, Tim Curry's new role in the network remake of Rocky Horror Picture Show and the official return of Prison Break.

New episodes of Empire return Wednesday, March 30 at 9 p.m. on Fox. No premiere date for Empire season three was announced.
