There's a new kid in the family.

Ellen DeGeneres announced on her eponymous daytime talk show Thursday that she and wife Portia de Rossi have added a new member to the mix: Kid, a 9-week-old puppy. "I have not talked about this yet, but we have a new puppy. Portia and I got a puppy and his name is Kid so now we have a kid. Yep. I mean, he is absolutely adorable," DeGeneres said while sharing photos of her new pup. Though Kid is "cute as can be," DeGeneres said it's "not cute" to wake up at 11, and 1, and 3 and 5. And then 5 is when he's up, up. That's Wolf. He's you can't tell he's tiny. Wolf is not that big, but our other two—Auggie and Wolf—are doing great with him. They're really teaching him a lot, but he's so...Oh, God!"

DeGeneres then gave guest DJ Stephen "tWitch" Boss a heads up about what to expect after his wife and fellow So You Think You Can Dance alum Allison Holker gives birth. "He's got so much energy, so I'm just warning you right now: When you have—well, when Allison has that baby—you're gonna be so tired," the comedienne said. tWitch replied, "Gonna be very tiring."

"It really makes me appreciate what it's like to be a mother. Because like I'm trying to hold a puppy while I'm trying to make coffee. And I can't do anything. He doesn't let me do anything," DeGeneres said. "And I named him Kid because, you know, people...There have been rumors forever. 'When are you and Portia gonna have a kid?' So, now I can say we have a Kid. So it can just stop."

In her 2011 book, Seriously...I'm Kidding, DeGeneres joked about people who longed to see her become a mother. "People are constantly asking Portia and me if we are going to have children. We thought about it. We love to be around children after they've been fed and bathed. But we ultimately decided that we don't want children of our own," she wrote. "There is far too much glass in our house."

DeGeneres made similar jokes about parenthood when she appeared on NBC's Today in March 2015. "I love kids. But that's such a big commitment. And it seems long-term. It seems like a commitment that you have to stick with. And I just don't know if I can—it's too risky. Like, what if I don't like the kid?" she told Matt Lauer with a laugh. "What if it turns out that it's not as cute as I wanted or as talented? I'm gonna compare it to all these kids that I have on this show that are so smart and so funny. And I'm like, 'You are nowhere near these kids I had on today. Sit down and look at this kid I just had on! Do you know all those presidents?'"
