House had a baby, and an audience of 13.9 million viewers for Tuesday's blessed event, per Nielsen estimates.
The Fox show was up more than 1 million sets of eyeballs from last week, and was easily the night's No. 1 show among adults 18-49.
Even as a repeat, however, CBS' NCIS (14.1 million) still drew a larger overall crowd than House from 8-9 p.m., and was the night's most-watched show.
Tuesday was a night for reruns. At 9 p.m., previously viewed episodes of CBS' The Mentalist (13.7 million) and Fox's Fringe (7.1 million) got upended in the 18-49 demo by a fresh installment of NBC's The Biggest Loser: Families (10.1 million). The Mentalist's performance assures that it won't repeat as TV's No. 1 scripted show.
At 10 p.m., an all-new Law & Order: SVU (10.9 million) made a case for life on NBC, post-Jay Leno.
With new episodes of According to Jim (5.2 million) and Eli Stone (4.9 million), ABC would have done better to air reruns of, well, just about anything else.
