May we have a moment to celebrate delicious cheesy products, please?
In honor of National Cheese Lovers Day, we're taking a look at the cheesy fast food products that give us life.
The only thing better than carbs are carbs covered in cheese, right? (Sorry, people with lactose intolerance.)
As fast food connoisseurs, masters of the drive-thru, we have sampled our share of cheese-based fast food options that we just can't get enough of.
And there are plenty of dishes for cheese lovers out there.
Jack in the Box's Bacon Cheddar Potato Wedges are potato wedges (so that's healthy, because you can tell it came from potato) topped with melted cheddar cheese sauce, shredded cheddar cheese and bacon. Please note: We just listed two cheddar cheeses... melted and shredded. Why choose when you can have both? These look way too messy to share—soupy cheese snacks are best as a solo order, so just make sure your date orders his own.
Forget the curly fries, did you know Arby's serves mozzarella sticks? Melty mozzarella battered and fried, with marinara sauce on the side: this is what you should be washing down that roast beef sandwich with. Or, you know, you can just make mozzarella sticks a meal. No judgement here.
KFC offers mac & cheese as well, but that's not the only cheesy dish we'd like to nominate. Please, direct your attention to their Famous Bowl, which is a trough of mashed potatoes, corn, chicken, gravy, and topped with three shredded cheeses. It's everything you want, thrown in one container, and then cheese on top just for kicks. Does it really need all the cheeses? Let's not answer that question. Just trust us when we say, this is a cheesy dish that will haunt your foodie dreams (in a good way.)
If you haven't tried Wendy's new Bacon Fondue Fries yet, do yourself a favor and go hard on these puppies before any New Year's resolutions kick in. These fries are topped with warm Swiss Gruyere cheese and bacon. Heck. Yes. If you're over the fries scene, Wendy's also has plenty of baked potato dishes topped with cheese options, too.
Beyond their mozzarella cheese sticks and cheese fries, White Castle also offers loaded fries. They're not just topped with cheese, but creamy ranch dressing and bacon as well. We can all agree, as a nation, that cheese and ranch dressing should be coming together as frequently as possible. Bravo, White Castle.
If you need your cheese with a little bite to it, we respect how you eat. Carls' Jr. Jalapeño Poppers are right up your alley. It's breaded cheddar cheese with jalapeño—like a cheese stick for someone who knows how to handle themselves.
Boston Market offers mac & cheese, loaded mashed potatoes, and more cheesy options. However, if you want a cheese fix while eating something green (so you feel good about your choices), may we recommend the creamed spinach? Trust us: Yes, there's spinach, buuuuut you're really only tasting the cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, butter, and sea salt. You're basically eating a bowl of cheese and telling yourself it's a vegetable, and that's amazing.
Nearly everything at a pizza joint is slathered in cheese, so how do you pick a favorite item? Easy. Find the thing with the most amount of cheese possible. Domino's Wisconsin 6 Cheese Pizza is the perfect example: it has mozzarella, feta, provolone, cheddar, Parmesan and Asiago cheeses. Oh, and it's on a cheesy Parmesan Asiago crust, too. When it comes to cheese: if you're going to go for it, really go for it.
There is so much cheese happening on the Sonic menu. It's a beautiful thing. Their cheesy bacon pretzel dog is a top contender. It's a beef dog in a pretzel bun, topped with bacon, cheddar cheese sauce, and grilled onions. It's one of those wonderful fast food unicorns... items mixed together that you've never seen before, yet quickly find out make the perfect pairing. Cheese + pretzels + beef forever...
We all know ain't no shame to Taco Bell's cheese game. The fast food chain knows what they're doing when it comes to our No. 1 dairy product. So, how did we pick a favorite menu item? They have cheesy fiesta potatoes, which literally has "cheesy party" in the name, yet that's not what we went for. Taco Bell's Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Tacos Supreme is our top pick, thanks to that Nacho Cheese Doritos-flavored taco shell. It's cheese surrounded by cheese.
Yet we know Taco Bell and other fast food chains have a lot of cheesy options which didn't make the list.
