Before Oscar Isaac signed on to play Poe Dameron in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, he was putting his vocals to good use in Inside Llewyn Davis, a Coen Brothers movie in which he played a folk singer.
But now he's bringing back his incredible voice and guitar-playing skills for GQ. During his interview with the magazine, the actor pulled out his guitar and covered Bill Murray's famous Star Wars theme song from an iconic Saturday Night Live sketch. To say that he nails it perfectly wouldn't do it enough justice.
Murray's silly theme song first appeared in one of his Nick the Lounge Singer sketches on the weekly NBC show.
In addition to absolutely crushing his rendition, Isaac opened up to the magazine about the fears he had while filming the highly anticipated new installment of the Star Wars franchise.
"I actually felt the most green and insecure than I had in a long time," he said of his latest role. "I was like, What am I doing here? There was a lot of room to shade in the character. Every time I tried to do that, it would slow things down too much.
"[Director] J.J. [Abrams] would be like, 'Get on with it, man!' Just, Louder! Faster! And then I would feel like I was doing that all the time. It felt weird and like I was not being creative," he added. "I would get nervous I wasn't finding enough or I was missing an opportunity."
Abrams assured the magazine that Isaac's performance is "one of the strongest" in the movie, and that his struggles ultimately led him to succeeding well beyond anyone's expectations. But given his nerves, would Isaac be opposed to participating in any potential sequels?
"No! Because what's so fun about it is…it's all made-up! It's all f--king made-up, but in a great way," Isaac explained. "We get to create it as we go."
Based on the overwhelmingly positive (and spoiler-free) reviews, Isaac and the rest of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens cast are out of this world.
