AP Photo/Schalk van ZuydamPrince Harry's not necessarily a "bad boy" in the traditional sense—he's about as well-bred as they come, and you'd be hard pressed to find a parent not wanting him as a son-in-law.
Prince William's younger brother has made a public misstep or two, though (we're not going to drudge up the past or anything but, um, Las Vegas certainly comes to mind), and the bachelor prince doesn't seem quite as straight-laced as Kate Middleton's hubby.
These days, 31-year-old Harry seems to have settled into his role as a royal and public figure quite nicely, but the good-guy-royal image isn't one he's always embraced. During a visit to Cape Town's Ottery Youth Centre, an organization which works to rehabilitate troubled youths including those who've been involved in gangs, Harry revealed that when he was younger, he very much "wanted to be the bad boy."
"I didn't enjoy school at all," he said, as excerpted by U.K.'s Telegraph. "I would like to have come to a place like this...When I was at school, I wanted to be the bad boy."
"If you've got an older brother that's not into gangs, that's a huge positive," said Harry. "Older brothers are supposedly the cool ones.
The spare heir made sure to get in a playful dig at 33-year-old William, saying, "I'm a younger brother, but I'm much cooler than my older brother."
In all seriousness, Harry was honored to meet with some of the boys supported by the school and hear about their stories. Kensington Royal, the official Instagram account for William, Kate and Harry, shared a photo of Harry hugging a young man at Ottery. According to a photo caption, "The youth centre provides rehabilitative care and education to boys aged 12-18, who more often than not have come from broken homes and experienced poverty."
Princess Diana' would be very proud to see her son carrying on her legacy.
