Sinead O'Connor is safe and unharmed after sparking concerns over what appears to be a suicide note posted on her Facebook page on Sunday.

The 48-year-old Irish "Nothing Compares 2 U" singer, who has battled depression and has attempted to take her own life before, referenced in her post what she says was "appalling cruelty" done to her by her family and police in Ireland. O'Connor had earlier this week penned messages referencing what appears to be a fight with two of her exes over two of her four children.

"The last two nights finished me off," she said in her latest post. "I have taken an overdose. There is no other way to get respect. I am not at home, I'm at a hotel, somewhere in Ireland, under another name."

More than 2,000 people comments on her post and many of her followers called the authorities to check on her. A source told E! News police were made aware of the situation and were able to locate O'Connor, who was found "safe and sound." Police told BreakingNews.ie the singer is receiving medical assistance.

The singer has spoken candidly about her mental health issues in the past and had told Oprah Winfrey in 2007 that she attempted suicide on her 33rd birthday in 1999. In 2011, O'Connor sparked concern online and received a visit from police after tweeting what appeared to be a suicidal rant.

O'Connor had said on Facebook on Saturday her sons' fathers and eldest son are "refusing to let me see my sons," one of whom she claims is "very dangerously sick."

She also referenced a hysterectomy she had undergone and said she got depressed after the operation "because I got left all alone to recover."

O'Connor said she is "desperately in need of a job and a place to live."

"Music is over for me," she wrote. "Music did this. Rendered me invisible even unto my children. Murdered my soul. I'm never going back to music."
